Privacy
SomeNet advocates the inalienable human right to privacy and will therefore never do serverside content logging (what is logged: OPER logins, SERVER errors).
IRC and especially SomeNet stands for free speech and privacy - No data will ever be sold to anyone - as they are not even gathered!
Security
SomeNet offers multiple security features to protect the users and their communication:
When connecting to SomeNet-IRC, the user's IP-Address/Hostname is obfuscated (hashed). Allowing to uniquely identify all users, based on IP-address/Hostname, without anyone ever disclosing these credentials to others.
SomeNet offers SSL-Encrypted IRC to encrypt all traffic between server and client.
Nickserv is a service that offers the regisration of nicknames, so others cannot pretend being someone else.
Chanserv is a service that protects the users' Channels from being taken over by strangers.
Open
Everyone is welcome. Feel free to create a channel on SomeNet. As long all users respect each other and go by the rules noone will ever get banned.
Free
SomeNet is funded by (Google)Ads only - we do NOT accept donations and we do NOT sell any data/information.
Also please remember to only click on ads you are interested into - clicking on ads just in order to support us can get us banned from Adsense.
Opers and Server-Links
SomeNet has a strict one Oper/Server rule. We do not think that giving OPER to others is good for a network. OPERs are just here to keep stuff running and NOT for any status!
As same with Servers: We do not accept new Links unless needed. We can host up to 5000 parallel connections atm. As long as there are not above 2500 users simultaneously online, we do not need another server.
